Worship

Worship is good for a man.

Keeps him humble.

Makes him strong.

Calm.

At peace with the nothing before him. And the nothing that comes after.

The unseen.

The unknown reason for it all.

It doesn't need a name, but it doesn't mind one either.

You can call it God if you like.

But it's up to you to reckon with it on your own.

A man has no business with the spiritual experience of another.

But there is something. Old and mysterious.

And you'll find satisfaction in sitting with it every once in a while.

Pay some respect. Give thanks that you're a part of it.

You don't have to fuss about it.

Just sit with it.

Worship with silence and solitude.

Silent because words are imperfect.

Solitary, because we are closer to it alone.

Not in temples or shrines.

There is no need to build a sacred house.

You can meet it in the world as it is.

In a forest.

In a field.

In the mountains.

In the night sky.

Under the Sun.

In all the cathedrals of nature.

The pews of city streets.

The ordinary scenery of life.

There is no greater church than this.

Breath the air.

Feel the wind.

Life, for now, is coursing through you.

You lucky dog.
